Real Life is Happening. Now.

I don't even know where to start with this blog. I guess I'm going to center this around the one huge event that happened: I have a big girl, real life job. This, of course, set off a chain of events in my life juuuust when things had been settling down. I am definitely not complaining though--I have a friggen JOB.

What am I doing, you may ask? Well let me tell you. I'm working for Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. My official job title is Assistant Canvass Director and I could not be more excited! For those of you now wondering what the heck Grassroots Campaigns is, I'll let their website tell you what they're all about in a nutshell because it is much more eloquent than I can explain it... yet.

"Grassroots Campaigns is a progressive organization that specializes in running face-to-face campaigns for political parties, candidates, and advocacy groups. We build membership bases and mobilize citizens for groups like the American Civil Liberties Union, the Democratic National Committee, the Nature Conservancy and Oxfam America."

Check out their website for all sorts of fun information about my life. Just click on the word "website." Fancy shit.

I tried explaining it to my parents and they essentially got out of this is that I will be a solicitor for the Democrats. They're Republicans. We'll forgive them.
I'm anticipating an angry text from my mother shortly after I post this. Love you Mom!

So now on to the major life changes that this has triggered. LIST TIME!

  1. I'm moving back home. I'm supposed to start my job on April 8th, so for the time being I'm moving back to the 'burbs with the parentals. That means in a week I'll be leaving The Castle and some of my very best friends in the Quad Cities.
  2. I have to leave the Quad Cities River Bandits and it's breaking my heart. Everyone was so supportive when I told them the news, and that makes leaving them that much harder. I have grown to adore these coworkers and all of their crazy antics. I'm also leaving right before Opening Day and essentially making their lives harder.
  3. I just broke up with my boyfriend. I mean, we were only dating for a week and a half but it still kind of stinks because he's great. But I learned a much needed lesson--there are some things I really can't control, no matter how much my neurotic self tries. Sometimes people just break up and it's no one's fault, it's just not meant to be.
  4. I'M MOVING TO CHICAGO! Eventually. The city. Not the suburbs. So when someone asks me where I live, I can actually say Chicago loud and proud. And when people make fun of my Chicago accent There's also a possibility that I might end up in a brownstone/graystone which has been my dream since I was 5 years old approximately.

In the words of my best friend, Shai,
"Single and ready to hit the big city. How Sarah Jessica Parker of you."

Maybe I should finally watch some Sex and the City.

No douchebag of the week post, I'm just too happy!
